NATURAL REMEDIES FOR SLEEP

HOW DO I GET MORE SLEEP AT NIGHT?

The most underrated habit for optimal wellness and beauty is sleep.  Statistics Canada tells us that 1 in 7 Canadians have sleep issues, and most are only getting 6.5 hours of sleep.  Adults require at least 7 hours of sleep each night, but we like to recommend 8 hours for optimal immune function, beauty and longevity. 

If you're having trouble falling asleep or waking up in the middle of the night, chances are that your adrenals are in overdrive.  Your adrenal glands sit on top of your kidneys and produce the stress hormone, cortisol.  One of the ways you can get more sleep is to manage your stress response.  We like to do this by using products and practices that relax and nourish us throughout the day. 

HERE ARE 6 TIPS TO HELP YOU SLEEP:

1) Turn off all electronics an hour before bed. 

Yes, this includes your phone! (unless you listen to a meditation before bed).  If you use your phone as an alarm, we highly recommend putting it on airplane mode to avoid any EMF's from interrupting your sleep cycle.  

2) Remove the TV

Do you have a TV in your bedroom?  Watching TV before bed will interrupt your melatonin production.  We recommend using your bedroom for two things:  sleep and sex!  Also, naps if you can manage those.  

3) Take Magnesium before bed

Magnesium loosens up stiff muscles and helps to relax the body.  We love the bisglycinate form, which does not have a laxative effect.  Take 2 capsules of the Canprev Magnesium bisglycinate or chew a few lozenges before bed.

4) Do not drink caffeine after 2pm.
