The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. Webcountry, the family created The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. There are now more than 1,500 health care organizations in seven countries committed to honoring their nurses with The DAISY Award. The Healer’s Touch The nurse chosen to be honored with the DAISY Award receives the Healer’s Touch sculpture.
